[Dominatus Campaign] The Corus Expedition
Preamble
Prologue: T'au Narrative
Phase I: Kasr Dydd Bay
The archipelagic city of Kasr Dydd is the largest on Verwunveld, and the de facto planetary capital since the gubernatorial Winter Palace is now in use all year round. Much of the shorefront is home to first-generation colonial facilities, now partially derelict - an ideal location for interlopers or invaders to establish themselves.
Necrons Briefing: Our vessel has entered low orbit, and the time to liberate Corus is nigh. The first wave of our forces must make planetfall without delay, locate the tombs beneath the stable regions, and establish a cordon in which additional forces may be raised.
Tau Briefing: The conflict on AO-41 offers a unique opportunity to assess and acquire ves'ron translocation technology. First, however, we need to make contact with gue'la sympathisers, and insert our cadre outside the existing battlespace.
Astartes Briefing: Verwunveld is ours. Our brothers have reasserted Imperial dominance on this world, and we will not yield to xenos invaders, be they from the stars above or the depths below. Throw the aliens back whence they came!
Warzone Reward: Munitions Vaults
Warzone Rules: Landing Craft, Rapid Reinforcements
Sworn Hunters vs. Nephrak Dynasty
Loot & Scoot vs. Vital Strongpoint
94 VP (Agenda achieved) to 61 VP (Agenda achieved)
Undying Duty Honour & Natural Leader Skill gained
A tactical victory for the Astartes, with the shorefront survivors evacuated and ninety per cent of the population protected, but strategically, it's at best a discovery that the Sworn's old enemy and quarry haven't given up on Verwunveld.
Da'Ieldi Enclave vs. Sworn Hunters
Establish Contact vs. Repel The Foe
42 VP (Agenda failed) vs. 67 VP (Agenda fulfilled)
Terrifying Presence Skill & Kingslayer Honour gained
[data acquisition ongoing]
[data acquisition ongoing]
Nephrak Dynasty vs. Da'Ieldi Enclave
Planetfall vs. Vanguard Recon
79 VP (Agenda achieved) to 70 VP (Agenda achieved)
Undying Duty Honour & Fortune's Favoured Skill gained
While the Necrons successfully translocated a fresh wave of troops to the surface, one of their tomb locations is very much known to the Tau, and Earth Caste engineers are already at work on detecting, decoding, and deflecting the energy signatures involved. This won't do.
Sworn Hunters Garrison Force takes Kasr Dydd Bay (Archipelago location)
Through a combination of stubborn determination and sheer ferocity, the Sworn Hunters repelled both invaders' landing forces. Kasr Dydd is decimated, but far from destroyed, and the Aquila flies high while the xenos scatter.
The Nephrak Dynasty has successfully carved out a beachhead, albeit not on the actual beach. Fresh cohorts are summoned from the tombs of Corus, and the war of liberation begins in earnest.
Detected by the Astartes and driven into retreat by the Necrons, Da'Ieldi's expedition has withdrawn to reassess the data acquired. The situation can still be salvaged, but it will require cunning, quick action, and further bloodshed...
Phase II: The Wound in the World
Astartes Briefing: Our enemies continue their assault, seeking to bypass our quarantine zone and drive for the geologic anomaly. We will allow their advance to the fringe, identify their points of interest, then sever their routes of reinforcement. Cut them off - then cut them down.
Necron Briefing: The first phase of liberation has not succeeded, but neither has it failed. We must maintain the pressure, prevent the vermin from discovering further tomb complexes, and extend our dominion over exposed thermo-plasma veins. Harness those, and Corus is within our grasp once more.
Tau Briefing: We have fallen back to safe positions, but time is running short. We must apply what we have learned before the war escalates beyond our capacity to prosecute. Move swiftly and with purpose. Deter the gue'sa fighters, locate and explore the ves'ron tombs, and ensure evacuation routes are preserved.
